  • What is the role of NGOs in the assisted voluntary returns of asylum seekers and irregular migrants?

16 May 2014 - CPC members, Derek McGhee and Claire Bennett, presented their work on the role of NGOs in asylum seekers and irregular migrant voluntary returns at a COMPAS (Centre on Migration, Policy & Society) Breakfast Briefing.

Along with Professor Bridget Anderson from COMPAS, they presented work on the different programmes whereby asylum seekers, irregular migrants and foreign national prisoners can be returned to their countries of origin (or a third country) through assisted voluntary return or facilitated return programmes, administered by NGOs in the UK. The work explores the relationship between those NGOs who hold the contract for administering these programmes and UKBA and the Home Office.
