  • CPC Director attends UNECE Ministerial Conference on Ageing

CPC Director, Professor Jane Falkingham, attended the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) Ministerial Conference on Ageing in September 2012.

Professor Falkingham gave a keynote address at the Research Forum, and was also a panellist at a United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) side event.

The conference, which took place in Vienna, Austria, marked the thirtieth anniversary of the first World summit on Ageing in Vienna 1982, and also the tenth anniversary of the Madrid International Plan of Action on Ageing (MIPAA) and its Regional Implementation Strategy (RIS).

The conference, under the motto "Ensuring a society for all ages: promoting quality of life and active ageing", saw ministers, high level government officials and experts convene to evaluate MIPAA/RIS in the five years since the Leon Ministerial Conference (2007) and to discuss remaining challenges.

For more information on the Conference, please see the UNECE website.
