  • CPC member presents Global AgeWatch Index at UN Meetings

13 - 14 February 2014 - CPC member Professor Asghar Zaidi gave presentations on the 'Global AgeWatch 2013' at two events held at the United Nations in New York.

The first presentation, as part of a Poverty Group Brown Bag Lunch which was also streamed live online, explored evidence generated by the Index and how it supports a focus on older people in the post-2015 agenda's aspiration to 'leave no one behind'.

Professor Zaidi talked about its four domains, 13 indicators, multiple data sources used and key findings, and explored the usefulness of the Index as an innovative tool to both profile global ageing and to promote policies on well being and quality of life of older people in the world of rising life expectancy.

The second event, entitled "'Leave no one behind': include ageing and older people in the post-2015 sustainable development agenda", included presentations and discussion on current activities and potential developments to ensure older people and issues of ageing and life course are fully included in the Post-2015 Sustainable Development Agenda, in order to deliver the promise to 'leave no one behind'.
