  • Professor Jane Falkingham announced as new Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences

    CPC Director Professor Jane Falkingham is one of 33 leading social scientists to be conferred the award of Fellow by the Academy of Social Sciences.

    The recipients have an extensive range of expertise in the social sciences, including management, sociology, psychology, politics, geography and law. The Fellows have made a substantial contribution to wider social science in a variety of contexts, including in higher education, government and learned societies.

    The Academy of Social Sciences writes that Professor Falkingham's "particular interests in intergenerational transfers and relationships, and the economics and inequalities of ageing and the lifecourse have brought her to the forefront of demography."

    Professor Falkingham said, "I am delighted to have been nominated for this prestigious accolade and it is a great honour to be elected as a Fellow of the Academy. As the voice of social sciences in the UK, the Academy plays a key role in inspiring and advocating the vital contributions made by social science research towards the issues facing society today. I would like to thank my colleagues, whose expertise and support are reflected in this nomination."
