  • Who are the new female breadwinners?

    In the UK about one in three women in cohabiting or married couples earned more than 50% of their household income in 2010, according to the Family Resources Survey, up from one in ten in 1980.

    CPC Member Agnese Vitali has written an article for The Conversation about the rise in the prevalence female breadwinners in the UK and all developed countries.

    Dr Vitali's main research interests relate to the study of gender roles, transition to adulthood and low fertility. Her current research activity focuses on the emergence of Women as Main Earners & Female Breadwinners in Europe.
