  • What is a Millennial and how different are they?

1 March 2017 - What is a Millennial and how different are they? 'Millennials', also referred to as 'Generation Y', are typically defined as the demographic cohort born between the early 1980s and early 2000s. Industry and academia are keen to develop strategies to understand them, their motivations and how they are different to the 'Generation X' and 'Babyboomers' cohorts that they follow.

CPC's Dr Agnese Vitalito spoke about Millennials at a UBS Consumer Panel: How do you monetise Millennials?, drawing from her globally recognised research study of gender roles, transition into adulthood and female breadwinner families. Agnese joined speakers Safia Minney who discussed 'How do you add value with sustainable strategies?' and Marie Anderson who discussed 'Is there such a thing as Millennial loyalty?'

Agnese is the principal investigator for the CPC research project 'Female-breadwinner families in Europe', Lecturer in Social Statistics and Demography and the Director of the BSc Programme in Population and Geography at the University of Southampton.
