  • 'Outstanding Commitment' Award for CPC's Florence Barrett

CPC Administrator, Florence Barrett, has been awarded the ‘Outstanding Commitment’ Award by the University of Southampton ‘Bringing Research to Life’ Roadshow organisers.

The annual Roadshow, which has been established since 2013, showcases a selection of the University’s research across the country and tours both regional and national events between February and September. In a typical year, researchers meet more than 20,000 visitors during each Roadshow.

Florence joined CPC colleagues to host our ‘Migration in the Nation’ exhibition that engaged with over 800 members of the public at the Cheltenham Science Festival, Winchester Science Festival, BBC Countryfile Live and Bournemouth Air Festival Roadshow activities. Her role developed considerably during the course of the Roadshow, from just attending to help on the stand at the beginning, to organising travel plans, providing exhibition layout advice and training other team members to confidently engage with the public. Her dedication and commitment was an important contribution to the success of this significant public engagement project.

CPC also won the ‘Best Media-based Activity Award’ for our 2013 Roadshow Exhibition and we anticipate a future contribution to the Roadshow next year.
