CPC members meet with Department for Work & Pensions
Members of the Department of Sociology, Social Policy and Criminology were well represented at a meeting with the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) at the University of Southampton on 22 May. The meeting, arranged by Public Policy|Southampton, saw 17 policymakers from the DWP attend to hear how researchers from across the Social Sciences at the University contribute to the DWP’s Areas of Research Interest.
Many CPC members presented on their latest research, demonstrating how their findings can make a contribution to the evidence base on sustainable, good quality work and pensions policies. The day successfully forged knowledge exchange and new collaborations between members of SSPC and Government policymakers.

Prof Corrado Giulietti spoke about employment and labour market flexibility.
Prof Traute Meyer discussed pensions in the session 'Security in Later Life'.
Prof Athina Vlachantoni gave a talk on informal care and employment trade-offs in mid-life.
Prof Maria Evandrou highlighted ethnic differentials in pension protection.

and finally, Dr Brienna Perelli-Harris spoke about partnership dynamics and relationship quality.
The day was organised by the Public Policy team at the University of Southampton.
