Heini Väisänen awarded the BSPS Early Career Award 2021

CPC member, Dr Heini Väisänen, has been awarded the BSPS Early Career Award 2021.

The scheme is aimed at highlighting the achievements of those towards the start of their careers and who have the potential to make a significant contribution to population studies.

Dr Väisänen's research focuses on sexual and reproductive health and rights in different parts of the world. She is affiliated with the fertility and family strand of CPC, works as a researcher at the Institut National d'Etudes Démographiques (INED, France), and as a part-time Lecturer in Social Statistics and Demography within the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Southampton.

The committee making the decision commended Dr Väisänen's well-rounded CV, which "includes excellent research but also substantial contributions to the discipline of population studies beyond your research, including, just as one example, the FemQuant initiative".

As the award winner, Dr Väisänen will give a plenary on the 14 September at the upcoming BSPS conference.
