  • More complexity in mid-life

New research from CPC suggests that over the last 25 years the lives of British men and women in mid-life have become more varied.

The research, published today in Population Trends No. 145 finds that living alone in mid-life is increasing, especially among men, and that the middle aged are now more likely than in the 80s to be living with dependent children.

The study also finds that among both mid-life men and women fewer have a child or grandchild than 10 years ago but more have a living parent or grandparent and fewer are married, while more are divorced.
