IMEM Workshop: Overcoming measurement differences and missing data to estimate international migration flows in Europe

Data on people's movements are often inconsistent and inaccurate because of difficulties in collecting accurate migrant information and different concepts of migrants. So, without these data, how does one understand the causes and consequences of international movements in Europe?

In May 2011, experts on international migration data, statistical modelling and demographic uncertainty came together outside Southampton to give presentations and to discuss ideas regarding European migration and the current status of the Integrated Modelling European Migration (IMEM) project. This three-day workshop was organised by the CPC Modelling team with the participants coming from across Europe and North America, including Hania Zlotnik and Joel E. Cohen, who were invited as Special Guest Presenters.
