    Global Issues in Gerontology and Ageing (ONLINE)

    How can more than a billion people age well across the world? Globally, the number of older persons is growing faster than the

    number of people in any other age group,putting pressure on all sectors of society.This course cuts across two key areas.The process of ageing challenges students to consider how this happens across an individual’s lifespan, not just in later years. Secondly, social gerontology takes a multidisciplinary approach that brings in cultural, psychosocial, cognitive and biological aspects.

     

    Applied Social Research (MSc, PG Dip, PG Cert)

    This Masters course provides you with the skills and knowledge you need to carry out robust social research and evaluation. You will learn

    how to collect, analyse and report qualitative and quantitative data, taking account of ethics, reliability and validity. You will critically

    examine the theoretical foundations that underpin social scientific research and explore issues with social network research. Finally, you will develop an understanding of the relationship between research and policymaking.

    The course meets Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) requirements for postgraduate research training.

    research, with the opportunity to choose your own areas of specialism. You will gain the contemporary skills and knowledge you need to collect, analyse and report qualitative and quantitative data, understand social behaviour,and critically examine the theoretical foundations that underpin social scientific research. The course also offers a wide range of optional specialist modules to choose from.The course meets Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) requirements for postgraduate research training and fully funded places are available through the ESRC.

    With the number of people living with dementia across the world expected to double in the next 20 years, this innovative e-learning course has been developed to provide you with an in-depth, research-based knowledge of dementia and approaches to dementia care. Run by a team of academic experts who are active researchers in this field, we offer Dementia Studies as a distance learning postgraduate course. It includes the latest theories, innovations and best practice in dementia care, an overview of policy drivers and initiatives, and a grounding in academic and research skills.
