Students

The ESRC Centre of population Change is committed to enhancing the capacity of the social science community to meet the research challenge presented by population change. To meet this objective the Centre provides opportunities for linked studentships in the areas of fertility, living arrangements, migration and knowledge transfer.

Current Students

George Disney  has an ESRC-Office for National Statistics CASE Studentship looking at 'Improving the quality of international migration statistics in the UK' supervised by Dr James Raymer and Dr Jakub Bijak at the University of Southampton. 

Adriana Duta has a ESRC (+3) studentship investigating the relationship between social mobility and fertility across Europe under the supervision of Dr Brienna Perelli-Harris and Prof. Máire Ní Bhrolcháin at the University of Southampton.

Annemarie Ernsten, previously at NIDI, has a PhD studentship investigating fertility and the housing market in Scotland. Annemarie is working with Dr Elspeth Graham.

Paulina Galezewska has a European Research Council funded studentship for the project "Nonmarital childbearing in comparative perspective: trends, explanations, and lifecourse trajectories". Paulina is investigating ‘Re-partnering patterns and fertility in new partnerships across Europe’ under the supervision of Dr Brienna Perelli-Harris and Dr Ann Berrington at the University of Southampton.

Julia Mikolai has a ESRC (+3) studentship to investigate 'The analysis and prediction of family-life event sequences' under the supervision of Dr Brienna Perelli-Harris and Dr Ann Berrington at the University of Southampton.

Sharani Osborn has a ESRC-CPC linked studentship carrying out research into 'Intergenerational relationships, local cultures and men's orientations to family formation' from October 2010, under the supervision of Prof. Lynn Jamieson at the University of Edinburgh.

Scott Tindal has a ESRC-CPC linked studentship to work on a project to 'Explore the processes and outcomes of user engagement', supervised by Prof.Lynn Jamieson, Ms Sarah Morton and Dr Rose Wiles at the University of Edinburgh.

Daria Tkacz has a ESRC-CPC linked studentship to researching 'The experiences of Polish migrant children in English primary schools'  under the supervision of Prof Derek McGhee and Dr Pauline Leonard at the University of Southampton.

Rachel Tordraighen has a ESRC-CPC linked studentship to investigate  'Non- Labour market implications of internal migration'. Rachel is supervised by Prof. Allan Findlay at the University of St Andrews.
